2.) Slowly lower your legs over to the right (knees should stay together). Keeping the 90-degree angle, lower your legs & then lift them up to the left. That is one rep. Perform 20 reps.

1.) Sit with your legs slightly bent, feet flexed up, and hands just outside of your hips, fingertips facing forward. Draw your abs in tight and press down through your palms to lift your hips up off the ground a couple of inches.
2.) Focus on lifting your hips with your abs, only use your arms and legs to brace yourself. Fully extend your legs and try to push your hips backward. Hold for 2 seconds. Then bend your knees and return to the start position. That’s one rep. Perform 10 reps.

2.) Bend your left knee under you and across towards the inside of your right elbow (your hips should turn to the right and you’ll pivot slightly on the ball of your right foot). Slide your left leg back to the start position and then repeat to the right. That’s one rep. Perform 20 reps.

Bikini Body Mommy Top 5 Nutrition Tips for LOSING your POOCH

Implement just ONE of these new nutrition habits from my book the Bikini Body Mommy Blueprint, for 1 FULL WEEK before implementing the next tip.

#1: Take a Multivitamin & Liquid Fish Oil supplement

DOSE: Multivitamin – 1 daily like One-A-Day Women’s Multi , Fish oil supplement *LIQUID FORM* like Nordic Naturals or Carlson Labs VERY FINEST Fish Oil – 1 gram per 1% body fat, but NO more than 30grams.

REASON #1: The multivitamin is an insurance policy against nutrient deficiencies — Most clients come to me deficient in a bunch of vitamins, minerals, and omega 3’s… and if we fix that right out of the gate, we can really hit the ground running!
REASON #2: The fish oil has plenty of data behind it that suggests that it has positive effects on the motivational centers of your brain (when taken in the dose I recommend), as well as increases FAT LOSS, and has an anti-inflammatory effect on the body.

**To make things extra easy and save you the headache of trying to find them… here are links to buy the exact same brand of Multi-Vitamin and Fish Oil Supplement I used this past year to lose 100 POUNDS:
MULTI-VITAMIN: Genuine Health (multi+)

Why start here? It’s EASY — we can build up a positive momentum! And If we can actually make an impact the motivation centers in your brain to increase your motivation, in addition to fixing your nutrient deficiencies, increase your fat loss, and help you to be less sore from your new BIKINI BODY MOMMY CHALLENGE workout regime … you are going to have a better chance of success!

#2 Eat Breakfast within 20 minutes of waking up

(This means– BEFORE YOUR COFFEE!) Turn your metabolism into a fired up fat-burning furnace FIRST THING! Keep it small and protein rich.

#3 Consume Protein-rich foods with EVERY MEAL

Get at least 20 grams in per meal! Great sources include: eggs, greek yogurt, chicken, fish, bison, quinoa, black beans, lentils, and chickpeas.

This includes rice, pastas, potatoes, cereal, bread,  fried food with breading, and milk.

AMOUNT: Consume at least half your body weight in ounces, upwards of 1 gallon every day — NO EXCEPTIONS!

1/2 your Body weight Example: 150lb woman would drink 75 ounces DAILY — a little over 6 traditional 12oz water bottles.

1 Gallon Example: 10 traditional 12oz water bottles DAILY.

Yes, it IS A LOT of water.  YES, you’ll likely be going to the bathroom every 10 minutes until your body adjusts. If you really want to lose the fat and ditch the pooch that making you feel so awful about yourself — Deal with it! I cant emphasize enough how important hydration is when it comes to fat loss.

Informative! Love! I am a little afraid to do the crunch. Usually, anything in the plank position….other than a plank…makes me nauseous…..well….I lose my breakfast. Any ideas on how to help w/this?

  2. says

I have a diastasis rectus and still look like I am six months pregnant oer a year after my second. Have you seen this as successful in women like this? I am willing to try anything! I’ve heard of the Tuplar exercises, but I’m very skeptical of investing money into anything. Thanks!

    • says

Hi Cassandra — FABULOUS QUESTION, and you are SO NOT ALONE! I just helped another Bikini Body Mommy who had twins and was also struggling with DR. I am VERY well versed with Julies work and know many woman who have had remarkable successes with her technique. If you can afford it, I would absolutely start with the splint! Then, depending on your personal learning style, I’d pick up either her DVD or the guidebook. Personally I’m more of a kinesthetic learner, so I’d probably choose her DVD … but both the guidebook and DVD have equally gotten rave reviews in terms of facilitating rehabilitation.

  3. says

Just a little note about 1 dailies :) My dad is a nutrition store owner and the one a days are one of the worst multis out there… Be-beautifuls and other multi vitamins are more sufficient in vitamins and such. Also Nutrition stores like GNC and the Vitamin Shoppee carry prenatal and other mutli’s geared toward mommies :)

  4. says

Great Blog! and great information! i have a question. Would you suggest the same workouts for a breastfeeding mom? i have an 8 month old and dont want anything to interfere with my milk supply. My biggest fear is that my body will stop producing. Also, I take pre natals still so would the fish oil be necessary or is it even good to take if i am breastfeeding?

    • says

they are beautiful, ahem… I mean they look very dagoernus. :)I do agree with Susan, man photos are good and all, but isn’t there one of you with them tucked away somewhere?love you, Marshie…amy in peru

I’m having A LOT of trouble doing these exercises:/ I never feel it in my abs. Often times, my back hurts and I just don’t feel I’m doing them right. I’m not sure I’m tightening my abs right. How do I tighten my abs correctly and what are tips to doing these exercises? Is it possible they’re just too advanced for me at this point since this is the first time I’ve worked out, or attempted at least, in over a yr? Im so frustrated and really want to lose this weight and be back to my preprego weight, im not good with dieting and working out but im trying really hard…any tips?

P.s. i did read your 5 weight loss tips and am doing those as well. I also participate. In Curves program.

    • says

Hi Ashley!!! I totally understand what you’re saying … the reason you start to feel it in your back is because your when your abs begin to get tired they recruit other muscles to help lessen the work load. When this happens, it is best to modify the exercise. I’ve listed modifications for several of the exercises … and if you were already doing the modified version, and still feeling the strain on your back — then it’s best to rest. Consistency and Repetition EVERYDAY is KEY… you WILL get stronger!!! Just because you aren’t “feeling it” in your abs while you’re doing the exercises doesn’t mean nothing is happening! So don’t get frustrated with yourself, your starting point, or even the rate of your progress … IT’LL HAPPEN — just keep at it! xx,-B

All I can say is I LOVE your blog! Very informative and easy to follow instructions. I am a mommy to a 15 month old and even though I had no problem losing the baby weight and then some, I still have that pooch to lose!! I am definitely going to try your ab moves listed above and I’m hoping this is the key to what I’ve been missing. After 3 kids, do you feel that you were able to achieve a flat tummy by a combination of everything or any one thing? I don’t really have weight to lose, so do you recommend the challenge for me? What would you suggest the most? Oh, and thanks for the post regarding squats! I have no idea how my butt got so flat, I didn’t carry a baby in there for nine months, so I’m so baffled! lol Looking forward to hearing from you!

  7. says

LOVE your site – found it because of awesome Pinterest! Do you recommend doing these top 5 ab moves every day or every other day? Being that they are not weight lifting exercises but toning, can I do them daily?

    Thansk so much!

  8. says

Thanks so much for mentioning these exercises at the Fit Mommy group.

They look doable and I’m going to try them today, but only a few reps of each one for starters. I’ve had it with overdoing it and then crashing! :)

I get up as early as possible to have my computer time before the kids wake up. I can’t imagine eating breakfast at 5:30 when I’d really rather be writing or blogging, but I do occasionaly snitch a bit of left-over meat. I won’t feel guilty about that anymore.

  9. says

I would like to share the multivitamin I use, its by Optimum Nutrition. I use to use women’s one a day and still had not felt the benefit of a daily multivitamin. My brother told me about his Optimum Nutrition Men’s Animal pack and how he loves it. So I started the women’s and I can see it in my hair, nails, skin, immune love love it! And you can get it on Amazon.

  10. says

I have a question about #2 in the 5 tips section-I take medicine in the morning and can’t eat for 1 hour after I take it. I normally don’t eat breakfast until around 8am (2 hours after I have gotten up.) How will the affect my ability to loose weight?

  11. says

Thanks for the great tips!!! I have a question: I am suffering from a traumatic brain injury, and I can’t put any weight through my left arm. I have gained 30 pounds since my injury. Not surprising since I can’t even walk without a cane. Any suggestions? You can email me back at Thanks in advance!!

  12. nana says

Brianna I too feel nausea when i work out with these exercises. I try and stay focused but its very difficult, i also have back problems, I plan on a thicker mat to work out on and also will be trying to use an exercise ball instead of lying on back. I am 56 yr old so the mommy tummy is from lack of exercise and weight gain, but I believe no matter what you do just do it and keep moving. Thank you for you help with us all.

  13. mo says

Hi. I happened to stumble on this from pinterest. I have serious DR after 3 pregnancies. I am excited to join the challenge. can’t wait to get rid of this pooch. I would also prefer to communicate via email. mine is
Is it safe to do the plank with the DR?

    • says

Hi mama! Im SO happy you’re here!!! If you have DR, you should AVOID planks and all ab work done from the floor that is “crunching” in nature! I am going to do a special ab work series special for all of my Bikini Body Mommies who have dr…. keep your eyes peeled :)

  14. Kylie says

Wow I found this on Pinterest, I’m not a mom but my eating habits are horrible because I’m first enervation American from a Spanish family…. Ha I’m 17 and have one from working out 5 days a week to nothing because of an injury. I’m glad I found this blog, you are very inspirational and these exercises are amazing!

  15. says

This is exactly what I’m looking for!! Been working out for a few months, and have been really satisfied with my butt/legs/arms progress, and noticing nice ab definition, but still can’t kick the pooch! Hopefully this will help some! Thank you so much!

  16. Brenda says

The fish oil supplements…this may be a dumb question, but you say 1 gram per % body fat…what constitutes a gram (a drop, etc). Also, is an estimation of body fat percentage okay?

  17. says

Hi!!! I’m new and I’m completely psyched about your website and the opportunity to actually get back into shape. I have 4 kiddos under 8 and homeschool…I have never wanted to be the mom that just let myself go. My youngest is about to turn one and doesn’t sleep very well through the night…so having a workout schedule that I can do that isn’t an hour long and I can just do in my house is like sounding an angel chorus! I would SO appreciate receiving emails since I’m not on facebook either. PLEASE tell me I can say adios to this gross muffin top!!! THANK YOU!!!!

  18. Autumn says

Is It okay if I put a pillow under my hips indtead of my hands? i have been doing that and it is much more comfortable.

  19. Katie says

How do I officially join your challenge? I’m a brand new mommy of a four week old and I’m adjusting to the breast feeding life. Is there a certain bra I should be wearing so I don’t feel like I’m breaking my boobs? :)

  20. Katie says

I think your info is great; however, studies have shown that women who drink milk may actually lose more weight. This being said, skim milk is a great source of protein and calcium; it should not be cut out for weight loss.

  21. Bethany says

LOVE this advice. I’m so happy to have found something just for mamas. I lost all my baby weight within 2 months of having my first child, but when he was 7 months old, I found out I was pregnant again. My daughter is now 8 months old, and I’m still 25lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight and it is killing me. My husband comments on it quite often and my self-esteem is so low. Can’t wait to start this! I think I’ll start these exercises right after I finish typing this! However, I can’t eat breakfast 20 minutes after waking up in the morning due to a medication I have to take… I can’t eat for at least 45 minutes after taking it and it HAS to be taken in the morning on an empty stomach. How do think this would effect my weight loss, if at all?
Thanks so much for sharing this!

    • Susan Harvey says

I take thyroid medication that is to be taken on an empty stomach too. I have started setting a first alarm to take the medicine, kept on my night stand. Then a second alarm to actually get up by. This way I can eat my protein within 20 minutes of getting up. Hope this can work for you.

  22. Janelle says

Hello, so I came across this on Pinterest and I am sure I am not the only mama who’s had a csection, but within a year I had to have an abdominal hysterectomy and 6 months later another abdominal surgery to complete the hysterectomy. This was all before my son was 2. Any tips to help with modifications if needed??

  23. Crystal says

I love the workout, and I take a multi vitamin but I am allergic to fish so cant do the fish oil, is there something else I can take instead to get the same results.

  24. says

THANK GOD for other Mommas. Its one a.m here. Then I see this. Normally Im a pin now read later…way later person lol. This time I read instantly. Thank the Lord. I am so happy to see that there are so many other moms that are doing this. I wanted to change my weight for the new years. I was a hot young woman five years and two kids ago. I havent been to the gym or worked out in that long. So I am starting slow taking it easy, not commiting myself to follow this start New Years day diet. I have been not so motivated till tonight. As we are approaching the second week of the New Year I just want to say thank you for this site and thanks for all the other moms comments and questions. I am procrastinating no longer. Soon as I finish this note Im getting down to the nitty gritty!!! Good Luck to all of you who are trying this!!! Thanks a million and Many blessings to you this New Year

  25. says

Wonderful blog! Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?

I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you suggest starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option?

There are so many options out there that I’m totally overwhelmed .. Any tips? Many thanks!

  26. Heather says

DO you recommend doing the Ab workout everyday, every other day or twice a day? Thanks for the amazing Ab workout today!

  27. Jada says

I’m curious about the liquid fish oil. Do the liquid fish oil have a bad smell and taste? I have heard of the fish oil pills but I’m scared the liquid fish oil will make me gag/vomit. I have the mommy belly/muffin top and I really need to lose it. It has been on me way too long. I have 50 pounds to lose.

  28. Darlene whitney says

I’d like to receive your emails, also does this work for women in menopause? I’m 46 and have a small muffin top that I’ve never had before!! Really struggling with this new body image, as well as the fact I can’t seem to fix it:(

  29. Sydney says

I just started your workout tonight. I’m 16 years old, and pretty athletic. I’ve just got more fat on my body than I’d like, especially in the “pooch” area. I want to lose 40-50 pounds by July (vacation to Florida). I can’t really get my hands on any of the multi-vitamin stuff, so any suggestions for a replacement?

  30. Victoria says

Hi, with eating breakfast that early when is the best time to do the workout? I like working out in the morning but not on a full stomach. thanks

  31. Stephanie says

hey! i am not a mother, but was drawn to your post because i am a naturally slender female, i am young and in great shape. i am active and have been going to a gym on and off for years. but even for my small size, i can not get rid of my lower-belly button pooch. it is not dramatic, but in bikini season and anytime i’d like to just feel comfortable in a halfshirt or bra, there is the lower pooch. i concentrate on ab exercises and am an EXTREMELY healthy eater, but have been told that sometimes, some women are just made this way. is there something i’m missing?

  32. says

hi! I am sorry if i am just having mommy brain and can’t find your 90 day challenge, but i was on your FB page and can’t seem to find where to start and about the challenge. Can you help! Thanks so much, loving your blog!

  33. Julie says

I love this a lot of the moves I have not done before so excited to try something new

Just wondering how often do you do these everyday or every other ?????

I have been having a hard time loosing my love handles and my tummy,I am not very big or anything I just want to have a flat tummy and to loose my love handles :)

  35. says

I’m truly enjoying the design and layout of your website. It’s a
very easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for
me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out
a developer to create your theme? Great work!

  36. M. James says

I have started doing these exercises & following the routine and so far so good! Thanks for putting this online! :)

Btw…random question but…where did the model in the photos get her teal pullover? I love it & would like to find one! Heehee! Thanks for any info.

  37. Lydia says

Great info. cant waut to tey some if these exercises. I noticed you indicated “beware of milk”. Do you mean elimate it or pick another type of supplement? How does one obtain natural calcium?

  38. says

Hello great website! Does running a blog similar to this take a great deal
of work? I have no understanding of coding however I had been hoping to start my
own blog in the near future. Anyways, if you have any recommendations or techniques for new blog
owners please share. I know this is off topic nevertheless
I just had to ask. Appreciate it!

  39. April Carlyle says

This is awesome information. I have two children one is 10 years and my second daughter is just about 8 months old i am struggling to lose the weight from her and some that was gained prior to my pregnancy. need to loose just about 50lbs. Is there anyway i can receive emails as well. I found this on Pinterest? Really look forward to hearing from you. Good Luck to everyone.

  40. says

I love this workout plan! Thank you! I have wondered many times IF the pooch can be exercised off and now I know.

Please do some research on multivitamins. Call the company that makes your vitamin and ask if there is actually any research on the product. Vitamins typically have 20-30 synthetic nutrients.

The better choice is WHOLE FOOD. An apple has 10,000 nutrients! My family takes Juice Plus to help bridge the gap between what we do and should eat. There are 28 published studies done ON THE PRODUCT!

And YES I do sell it, and I’m proud of it. I love that I can help my family by helping others get healthy. Please view our information and research with an open mind! People need to know!

Not sure if you’ve heard of us, but we’re starting an ad network for Health and Fitness related sites and thought you should know. Please email me to discuss further. I’m contacting you because of the quality articles like this.

  43. says

I had two c-sections. A surgeon once told me my belly was so stretched out during pregnancy, muscles cut during c-sections
that there wasn’t even hardly any muscle tissue left to tighten back. He said never to do sit ups. A P.A. told me I could run all day and never lose the pooch b/c I am approaching 40 and my fat burning hormones aren’t really there anymore. Wow, I am a positive person, but since I have heard these comments, it is hard to get motivated to do anything. Any suggestions? Please do not post my email. I would love suggestions and workouts emailed to me daily. Can anyone help? Thanks!

  44. Ana says

:) Gonna try it!!! Thanks a lot!!! I don’t have any babies (for now) but I can start with something. Thanks for sharing!

  45. paula says

I found this site on pinterest. Looking around the name caught my eye. I am mother of 4. My kids are no longer babies (22,19,14 and 11)BUT I hate the tummy. It is my biggest complaint about my body. I have done 2 day of each exercise but only 1 set of each. I cant believe how sore my tummy muscles are. My bigest challenge is to stay motivated to continue these exercises. I want to have a flat tummy again soon.
    Thank you, Paula

  46. Steph says

Hi! I’m a kinda late on this but awesome tips! Could u email me the workouts too please! I don’t have a FB :/

  47. Steffanie Clark says

I found you through Pinterest and so glad I did! My baby is 11 yrs. old and this is the year I’m going to lose the muffin top! I have started to cut out sugar, soda, and carbs (trying) and am drinking copious amounts of water. I love all the ab moves and diet tips! With the multi vitamin and fish oil- does the fish oil have to be liquid? It sounds nasty!

  48. Samantha says

not a “mommy” or planning on it any time soon, but as a 15 year old who’s trying to play college volleyball, i can say that your workouts help me greatly!

  49. jo-bear says

Have you got a DR workout yet? I’ve recently discovered that I have diastasis. My youngest is 12(years,not months). I’m overweight, but active. Unfortunately, I’ve been told for years that I just need to do more sit-ups and crunches. I’m so confused as to what I should and shouldn’t do for exercise. Help!

  50. Leigh says

Why do you recommend liquid form of fish oil instead of capsules? I’m not sure if I can tolerate liquid form, but I will try.

  51. Mandy Z says

Can anyone explain the #2 Plank Pike move a little more? I don’t quite understand how she got from position a to position b from those pictures.

  52. Stacey says

The exercises look great, but def a strain on the DR…but I’m excited to receive the workout for mommies with DR!!!! Yay!

  53. samantha says

Hi, it’s been almost three years now since I’ve had my son. I gained about 55-55 pounds while being pregnant. I’ve tried several different dieting plans and nothing had really helped. Is this a good exercise for me to try and would it work since it has been three years?

  54. ana cazares says

Hello there bikini mommy! I dont even know how i started off on instagram and ended up here…but it is exactly what im looking for. I am not a mommy but do need to loose weight…its one of those things ive struggled all my life. I loose weight then i gain it back. I try to do things right, i only drink water, no breads pastas and all that stuff… I run moreso 3 mi daily and work out… I started loosing weight but feel like im on a plateau… Any recommendations?? i would like to loose around 50 lbs..

  55. says

I am starting this tomorrow!!! I lost all my weight after having my son who is 5 now, but i gained it back when he was 2 when i got a desk job. I love this! Can’t wait to start it n see where it goes!!

  56. Lindsey says

can you please re-explain #1? I don’t understand the action. the others all make sense to me, tho. Are your legs bent at 90 degrees the whole time?

  57. Andrea says

So if I have 25% body fat, you’re saying to get 25 g of omega-3. That’s about 5 tablespoons (Carlson labs has 1.6 g/teaspoon), when the recommended dose is 2 teaspoons. Am I calculating this right?

    • says

Hi Andrea! No, something is off in your calculation … Carlson labs has 15 g per TABLESPOON. So at your current body fat you’d be looking at about 1 1/2 Tablespoons per day! Hope this helps… xx,-Briana

  58. Hayley says

Hey I’m not a mommy but I’m looking to tone up my stomach and get rid of love handle pooch. Does this workout work just as well for non mommys? Also Ive been having issues with the signature “crunch”, my hips seem to pop out and hurt badly when I bring my knee back to plank. I’ve had similar hip issues before from being a dancer for 8 years. Any advice on how not to make this move hurt and lock up my hips?

  59. Tina says

I did the test to see how big the gap was in my tummy muscles and it feels like I only have a 1 finger gap, now ill tell you my kids are 23&26, so my pooch isn’t brand new lol, so would you still suggest that I don’t do crunches? Or isn’t ok to do the crunches? I need to lose like 20 lbs by summer, thanks for your help. Tina

  60. Tonia says

Hi!I am a 38yr old mom of 6. I am naturally small framed and managed to keep the weight off after my kids but I have a saggy pouch that just hangs there looking like a second butt. .excuse my description lol..but do you think its losable and could be tightened up bcuz it’s been stretched so many times and I’ve never tried to time it up till now..?

  61. Cindy says

I would love to be emailed you daily emails please. I dont have FB anymore and I usually only get on the internet at work and it blocks the website where you said I can sign up for the emails. I seen this on pintrest and it looks great. Something to help out daily and you dont have to pay big buck. I love the workouts that I have seen also. Creative and you can do them in your own home. I am a mother of two boys. Both by c section. Also had a hysterectomy. I am left with what I call my flap. I am desperate to fix this. It isn’t easy after all of my surgery’s in this area. Any ideas what will work best to tighter my flap.

Ive had two c-sections, the latest one was almost 8 months ago. After my first son was born, I lost most of the weight I gained but still had the pooch. But after the 2nd I have tried almost everything and it won’t go away. What would you suggest ?

Hi! Is there anyway that you could send the workouts to my email each morning? I am starting tomorrow and super excited about it. I am a Mom of two and I have 45 pounds to lose. Your help and motivation would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Briane! Your success is VERY inspiring and motivating! I’d love to start the challange but am unable to keep up with it via facebook. Is it possible to be added to the daily email list for the challange that began June 1? Also, I’m SO pleased to see the workouts be so sensitively tailored to moms at home w/ children. Thank you for the post about stretch marks, as well. I look forward to the day I can show mine off in a bikini :). Bless you!!!

You said to eat 20 mins after you would wake up . I usually wake up and do my workouts then eat . I feel sick if I eat then workout. Is there something u recommend I should eat before? I love your pouch workout. My kids are 11 and 8. I workout and am toned and eat very healthy but can’t get rid of the pouch. I drink tons of water too so I’m hoping these Ab workouts help! Thanks!

I’m really confused about the fish oil dose…I calculated it at like 4 tablespoons which seems crazy (and a lot of calories). It’s 1.5 g per teaspoon. Is that forever or just 2 weeks?

  74. Chassity Tillman says

Hi Briana! If I am doing your 90 day challenge, should I do this to work on my pooch also? I just feel like I need extra attention in that area?!?! Please just let me know what you suggest!!

It really comes down to your nutrition. Eat a high protein diet rich with veggies and complex carbs. xx, – B
