SUCCESS STORY: Meet Stephanie P.

Success Story StephanieI’m a 33 year old stay at home wife and mom of two sweet babies! Our son Grayson is 5 years old and our daughter Caroline is 18 months. Being a mom is by the far the hardest, yet most rewarding job I’ve ever had and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else!! I’ve been married to my husband Brandon for almost 9 years and we are small business owners as well. Becoming a mother has not been the easiest thing for me, as I struggle with infertility due to PCOS and not ovulating. We conceived our son Grayson after 8 months of trying and 1 round of Clomid. Then we suffered a devastating miscarriage at 10 weeks with our second baby. Following that loss I had 3 D&C surgeries due to remaining tissue and other issues. It was a nightmare. Due to the low egg count and reduced egg quality, we consulted a fertility specialist who recommended we pursue In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF). We were blessed with our daughter on our first round and have 2 frozen embryos for the future.

Throughout all the physical trauma of being pregnant, losing our sweet baby, several procedures and my third pregnancy/delivery, my body was a wreck. I tipped the scale at 191lbs the day I gave birth to our daughter on June 5, 2015. I was induced with preeclampsia and struggled with my blood pressure following her birth.

Motherhood is hard but what I wasn’t prepared for after having my children was my deep struggle with postpartum anxiety. It’s often a silent struggle and one that hit me like a truck shortly after our son was born. The overwhelming feelings of anxiety, despair, fear and lack of control are absolutely paralyzing and isolating. Thankfully I was able to seek out the help and support that I needed to work towards being the most healthy version of myself. That journey has not been easy and one that I work on each and every day. Being consistent with the exercise and health is one of the key components to my mental health; while having the support of my husband, family and close friends.

I lost 50lbs prior to getting pregnant with our son on Weight Watchers, but losing the weight after him was SOOOO much harder. While struggling with my emotions and becoming a stay at home mom, food was my comfort and I’ve always been an emotional eater. As long as I can remember, I’ve had a very negative self image, never being able to see myself as others do. I’ve been 5’6” since I was 10 years old and weighed 150lbs. After having our daughter I was determined that I would get back in shape, lose the weight and become healthy physically, emotionally and mentally. I’m happily sacrificed my body to bring my babies into the world, but I wanted it back and to become fit and healthy again.

In October 2015, I started your Bikini Body Mommy 6 Week Mini Challenge but had a difficult time being consistent and struggled with a lot of sickness throughout our house last Fall. I was determined to do better. I started the Bikini Body Mommy Resolution Challenge 3.0 on January 4, 2016 and I am proud to say that I’ve done EVERY SINGLE DAY since!!! After the Resolution Challenge, the moms group on FB that I’m in started BBM 4.0 while we waited for 5.0 to start. Then as soon as 5.0 started we jumped in. After completing it, I went onto to do the BBM 6-Week Couples Challenge and each of the 4 week LIVE Slim Downs.

Currently I’ve begun BBMC 6.0 LIVE and it’s been amazing!!! I haven’t missed ONE day! Even took my weight/computer/success journal with me when we went on a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean, Pigeon Forge AND even to Disney World! That is one of the things that I love most about BBM!! You truly can do it ANYWHERE!! No matter what is going on, I can always get my workout in and being a super busy mom I need something that is easily accessible to my lifestyle! I just don’t have the time to load us all up, go to a gym, spend an hour etc.

I found something even more valuable that weight lost or a smaller pant size when I found BBM. I found MYSELF! It’s so easy to lose yourself as a mom and so hard to find time just for yourself. When our babies are small there is always someone that needs you and at the end of the day you just don’t have anything left to give to yourself. I didn’t want that to be the example that I set for our children. I love being a mom and wouldn’t change it, but I want my children to value certain things and the only way for me to accomplish that is to value them myself. Every night we put our daughter to bed around 7:30p and everyone in the house knows that it’s mommy’s time to workout. Sometimes our son joins in and it’s super fun! He’s always telling me how strong mommy is and loves talking about what my workout is for the night. I LOVE that. My health and fitness routine is an integral part of our family structure now and I have NEVER felt better!! Yes, I am thrilled with how I look and fit into my clothes now. I’ve lost all my baby weight from both my pregnancies too!

More than ALL of the numbers; I am a woman, wife and mom that I’m PROUD of and I’m confident in who I am. I still struggle some days to see myself as I truly am, but I’ve never been is such a positive place as I am now. I thrive at being able to support and encourage other moms to take the time to invest in themselves so they too can be the best version of themselves! I cannot express enough how much the Bikini Body Mommy community has completely changed my life and I’m forever grateful!

3.0 PERSONAL PROGRESS UPDATE: Week 6

Taken this morning, this is my Bikini Body Mommy Challenge 3.0 progress thus far (I am currently filming 10 Days ahead of you all). For all those wondering… This is What the REAL-LIFE stomach of a woman who has both gained and lost over 100 pounds as well as grown 4 tiny humans inside it — LOOKS LIKE! Yes it is MINE. Yes I am covered in STRETCHMARKS. Yes, I have loose lower abdominal skin… Depending on the lighting, depending on the camera angle… Sometimes both appear worse in photos than in others… But they are ALWAYS THERE — and that’s OK! Those “imperfections” are A GIFT from giving birth to 3 of the most intelligent, witty, and loving human beings on this earth (and 1 angel baby in heaven). Love your body #BikiniBodyMommy… It’s the only one you’ve got!

We’re on to our second strength session of the week … BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY … How did your Day 30 pics and measurements go?  We’re you happy with the results that you’ve seen?  Hopefully you stopped for a moment and gathered these.  It’s a helpful point in the challenge to step back and ask yourself … Are you PUSHING yourself enough?  Is your NUTRITION in line?  If the answer to both of these questions is YES .. then you are doing AMAZING!  If not … Have no fear!  We still have 60 days ahead of us and that is PLENTY of time to get on track, reel it in, and push harder!  I’m here for you every step of the way!

DAY 30

YEP, the dreaded Re-weigh/Measurement day has arrived! I say “dreaded” because this one really was. Prior to filming 3.0 I set some pretty lofty goals for myself. Today marks officially being 1/3 of the way through the challenge and while — Yes, things are subtly changing, my body is NO WHERE NEAR being where I’d hoped it would be at this point. It’s hard not to be down on myself, or discouraged right now but I’m going to harness this emotion and use it for a good ol’ fashioned “PEP TALK” because I know there will be others who will feel the same way.

The truth is, I have no right to feel discouraged right now about “my lack of progress.”

If I had been following my MY MEAL PLAN 90% over the last 30 Days, if I had been consistently nailing 90% of the workouts, and THEN found myself where I am currently am in terms of progress — Then YES! I’d have every reason in the world to be pissed, frustrated, and discouraged. But that’s not the case!

It’s very easy to make a few changes in your nutrition or lifestyle (like consciously eating 1-2 meals ‘better’ than you were previously, or maybe successfully cutting out late night snacking, giving up alcohol, and going from working out 0 days per week to getting in 3 solid workouts) and expect for the transformation process to “just happen,” but unfortunately that’s not the case! This is WHY I talk so much about the importance of “being REAL with yourself,” and taking a HONEST look at the big picture of what you are really doing everyday.

If you are someone who weighs-in and re-measures today and are disappointed with your progress …. or if you are someone who starts subconsciously telling yourself “HEY! You’ve made ‘all these changes’… you are doing ‘EVERYTHING right’ and LOOK it’s ‘NOT WORKING’! Your body isn’t changing — the scale is ‘STUCK’ — you’ve gained too much weight — your metabolism must be ruined — you’ve had too many kids — your body is ‘beyond repair’ and not capable of ‘bouncing back’ — you are ‘too old’ — and your ‘fat genetics’ are making this transformation process ‘impossible’ … you need to TAKE A TIME OUT and get GET REAL ABOUT THE SITUATION.

I say that with the utmost support, understanding and perspective, as I could literally use EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE REASONS for my own situation and why it’s ‘not working,’ ‘not possible,’ or ‘too hard.’ I am writing about it right now, because I struggle with those same self-conscious thoughts in my own head, but I know the SECRET TO GETTING PAST THEM! It’s being REAL with YOURSELF…

PERSONAL TRUTH TIME…

If I personally look back at the last 30 days, Sure, I may have had a few good 2-3 day stretches of being 90-100% spot on with following MY PLAN … but those other times? Those other times I was more like 60%, 40% or ZERO being a complete wash. Unfortunately those few 2-3 day stretches just aren’t enough time to create awe inspiring change. Are they a step in the right direction? — ABSOLUTELY! Are they small changes — which over the course of a longer period of time will add up to more “visible results”) — ABSOLUTELY! Do I feel healthier, more energetic, and POSITIVE because of those small changes, and what they represent in terms of the effort that has gone into working on building a better me? –ABSOLUTELY!

In “BEING REAL WITH MYSELF” it would be very easy to take the facts from the last 30 days, get depressed, and totally beat myself up over them. I am leading millions of women in their own transformations right now and I haven’t been 90, 80, or even 70% ON TRACK myself. But what would be the point of that? I don’t want to feel worse… this entire process is about feeling BETTER! Not just physically, but mentally!

ACKNOWLEDGE THE FACTS, and MOVE FORWARD….

So what did I do about it? I REFOCUSED.

I knocked it out of the park with my nutrition … I stuck 100% today to eating all 5 meals from MY PLAN, drank 4 litres of water, pushed as hard as I possible could with todays workout despite feeling SUPER ANEMIC and having gone up in dumbbell weight. I also took my MULTI-VITAMIN and FISH OIL SUPPLEMENT, and will be going to bed right now in order to let my body recover and get 8 hours of sleep.

How will I make sure I DO HIT MY GOAL in 15 Days on our next weigh-in?

By repeating EVERYTHING I DID TODAY, tomorrow. And again the next day… and the day after that.

What happens *IF I slip? What happens *IF I miss a meal, or a workout? It’s not a question of IF at some point I WILL. Why? Because I’m human, just like every single one of you. The key is to DO BETTER, and stay focused. The key is to NOT repeat the last 30 days, because it will only deliver the same outcome.

So my personal goal over the next 15 days is clear…

To create the same “awe inspiring change” that I’ve produced in the past, I need to be ON TRACK 90% of the time. This means I’m aiming for 100% and accounting for the “LIFE” variable to throw me off 1-2 times between now and then. Is that overwhelming? Sure, if I let it be. BUT GUESS WHAT — I won’t let it because (to quote a scene from one of my favourite movies of all time “What About Bob?”) I’m going to take it ONE “baby-step” at a time….

 

If you are someone who is stuck, frustrated, and feeling hopeless… I encourage you to take a real look at the situation, and then do something about it. RECOMMIT YOURSELF to this process … I’m not abandoning you, and you aren’t allowed to abandon me! Remember what I said on DAY 1? WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER. You and ME, we are sticking this out until day 90.

Bring on the next 60 Days…. WE’VE GOT THIS!
